How to test an Intermec printer for a Windows NT print server or workstation

Step 1.   Place the supplied Intermec test disk into the diskette drive of the attached print server or workstation.

Step 2.   From the Start button, select Programs -> Command Prompt.

Step 3.   At the command prompt, specify the drive that holds the Intermec test disk (such as A).

Step 4.  Type the following: SETMODE [Port Number], e.g., SETMODE COM1:

Step 5.  At a command prompt, type COPY <diskette drive>:PRINTEST.PRN  COM1:, e.g., COPY A:PRINTEST.PRN COM1:

The following message displays onscreen:

Status for Device COM1:
Baud: 9600
Parity: Even
Data Bits:7
Stop Bits:1
Timeout:ON
XON/XOFF:ON
CTS Handshaking:OFF
DSR Handshaking:OFF
DSR SensitivityOFF
DTR:Handshake
RTS: Handshake

Step 6.   Make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on; the cables are securely connected; and the printer is loaded with labels and ribbon.

Step 7.   At the command prompt, type: COPY <diskette drive>:PRINTEST.PRN  COM1:, e.g., COPY A:PRINTEST.PRN  COM1:

Step 8.  The Intermec label printer prints a test label. If it does not, re-type the SETMODE command in step 4 using COM2: instead of COM1: and repeat step 7 again. If the label still does not print, you may need to try COM3: or COM4:.
