How to test an Intermec printer for a Windows NT print server or workstation |
Step 1. Place the supplied Intermec test disk into the diskette drive of the attached print server or workstation.
Step 2. From the Start button, select Programs -> Command Prompt.
Step 3. At the command prompt, specify the drive that holds the Intermec test disk (such as A).
Step 4. Type the following: SETMODE [Port Number], e.g., SETMODE COM1:
Step 5. At a command prompt, type COPY <diskette drive>:PRINTEST.PRN COM1:, e.g., COPY A:PRINTEST.PRN COM1:
The following message displays onscreen:

Baud: 9600
Parity: Even
Data Bits:7
Stop Bits:1
Timeout:ON
XON/XOFF:ON
CTS Handshaking:OFF
DSR Handshaking:OFF
DSR SensitivityOFF

Step 6. Make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on; the cables are securely connected; and the printer is loaded with labels and ribbon.
Step 7. At the command prompt, type: COPY <diskette drive>:PRINTEST.PRN COM1:, e.g., COPY A:PRINTEST.PRN COM1:
Step 8. The Intermec label printer prints a test label. If it does not, re-type the SETMODE command in step 4 using COM2: instead of COM1: and repeat step 7 again. If the label still does not print, you may need to try COM3: or COM4:.
