In a multi-user environment, a single printer definition can apply to more than one printer as long as each printer uses the same printer control codes and is referenced by the same device name at all stations that use it.

For example, three network stations each have an identical printer attached to LPT1, and use LPT2 to access a network printer. A single printer definition is sufficient to cover all three local printers.
