Menu Commands - Overview

A command is an instruction that tells the software to do something.

In addition to commands associated with toolbar buttons, system groups commands on menus. A right-pointing arrow (4) to the right of a menu item indicates that a submenu is associated with the item.

Most menu commands display system screens, but some perform an action immediately and others display a dialog box so that you can select an option.

If you choose a command by mistake or if a command takes longer than you expected, you can interrupt the command.

To use the keyboard to choose a command, complete the following steps.

Step 1.  Press Alt.

Step 2.  Press the underlined letter in the menu name to display a menu.

Step 3.  Press the underlined letter in the command name. For example, to activate the Cascade Windows command, press Alt + W to display the Windows menu, and then press C to activate the Cascade command.
