Unassembled kits


For unassembled kits, components are kept in inventory under their individual part numbers and are not physically stocked separately as kits.

Unassembled kits are treated as a bill of materials. You cannot order or receive an unassembled kit, nor can you count or adjust the inventory of one. When you issue an unassembled kit, the entry  is automatically converted to an issue of the appropriate quantity of each part ID and suffix that is a component of the kit. If the inventory of any component is insufficient to support the transaction, an insufficient quantity validation message displays and the transaction is not processed. When you charge an unassembled kit to a work order, the software makes entries in the Parts Issues (PTD_MAIN) table for the appropriate quantity of each part ID and suffix that are a component of the kit.
