How to use Administrator mode to modify the user interface (UI) |
Administrator mode is available if you are assigned to a user group that has a check in the System administrator rights field on the Special Rights tab of System Mgmt -> Setup -> Access Rights -> User Groups screen.
In this mode, when you display a screen, the Modify UI Information button in the toolbar is active, which enables you to grant access rights, modify the user interface, and modify control rights to a screen, directly on the screen itself.
To modify the user interface:
Step 1. Open the screen on which you want to modify the user interface.
Step 2. To activate Administrator mode, click the Modify UI Information button .
Step 3. Right-click one of the fields on the screen (or its label).
A shortcut menu appears.
Step 4. Select Modify UI.
The Control Detail dialog box appears. It displays the Screen and Window IDs, Control Order, Control Type, and Default Title of the control. If appropriate, it also displays the Table Name and Column Name.
You can make one or more of the following modifications to the UI:
To change the name of the field (control), type a new name in the User Title field.
To require users to enter data in the field, place a check in the Required field.
To bring the field to the attention of users, place a check in the Attention Field field.
To add or modify a zoom button to another screen, place a check in the Add/Modify Zoom Button field.
Note: If you select this option, additional processing is required to implement it. Go to How to add a zoom button for the complete procedure.
To add or modify a zoom button based on values from multiple fields to another screen, place a check in the Add/Modify Multiple Control Zoom Button field.
Note: If you select this option, additional processing is required to implement it. Go to How to add a multiple control zoom button for the complete procedure.
To include the field in the screen Filter dialog box, select Y in the Filter field. Includes fields on screens that use multiple tables for non-group controls.
Caution: Do not add too many fields to the filter or sort dialogs. Continual filtering or sorting on fields that are not supported by an index in the database may adversely affect performance.
To exclude the field from the screen Filter dialog box, select N in the Filter field.
Step 5. Click OK.
The next time that members of the specified user group access the screen, the changes will be in effect for the current session only.
Step 6. To exit Administrator mode, click the Stop button .
