Control Rights Template |
The Control Rights Template screen enables you to display and define control rights templates. Control rights templates define which tabs or controls (or fields) on a screen can be viewed or modified when the template is associated with a user group.
Users that are members of more than one user group have all the rights assigned to their respective groups on the Screen Rights Template, but those rights may be overridden by the Control Rights Template. In other words, if one user group has certain rights and the other group does not, the restricted rights are applied to the users that are in both groups.
You can view, edit, and add new rows to a control rights template that has more than 500 rows.
Tip: You can use Administrator Mode to modify control rights templates directly from the screen to which they apply. While on the screen in Administrator Mode you may specify a control rights template. Once the template is selected you can select Modify Rights from the right-click menu on any control and modify the view and update rights for that control for the template selected for the session. To be able to access the Modify UI selection from the right-click menu on the control while in Administrator Mode, you must clear the control rights template for the session.
The field in the top section of this tab displays the template ID.
Template ID
Unique identifier of the control rights template currently selected in the grid. This field has a list box. To create a new control rights template, type the template name in this field.
First add the template ID on this screen, then use the UI control icon to apply screen rights.
Data in the fields in the bottom section of this tab define the control rights for the template. All fields are optional.
Screen
The title of the screen for which this row defines access to tabs or controls assigned by this template. For more information, go to the Paths to Screens topic. This field has a list box that displays a list of screen names.
Tab
The title of the tab where the controls for this screen are located. This field has a list box that is populated once a screen is selected.
Delete
To delete the entries in the fields to the right, place a check in this field and click Save.
Screen
The name of the screen for that rights template control. This field is populated when a screen and tab is selected above, and a control is chosen in the Control field in this table.
Tab
The tab of the screen listed in the Screen field. This field is populated when a screen and tab is selected above, and a control is chosen in the Control field in this table.
Control
The numerical identifier of the control for which access is being defined by this template. This field has a list box that is populated once a screen and tab are selected. The list includes the field title and a description of the field type. For example, Description (field name) TEXT (field type) and Part ID (field name) COMBO (field type; indicates that the field has a list box).
Deny view
If this field has an "x", the users in the user group assigned this template do not have rights to view this control (or field) on the screen.
Note: When you deny view to a control, it is removed from the upper grid. If a tab is marked as Deny view, it will not display on the screen. If the tab is marked as Deny update, all fields on the tab would become display only.
Tip: If you deny the view to a field, specify both the field and its label as Deny view so that the user will see no evidence of the field on the screen.
Deny update
If this field has a check, users in the user group assigned to this template cannot modify this control (or field) on the screen. The field is display only. If a tab is marked as Deny update, all fields on the tab are display only.
More info
If this field has a check, controls may be placed in a More Info section on screens in Web Modules.
Note: You can set this option up either on this screen or by using Administrator Mode directly on the screen that supports it.
Control title
The title of the control for which this template defines access. To change the control, click the list box in the Control column.
To create a control restriction, select a screen, select a tab, select the appropriate control on that screen and tab, and choose either Deny View or Deny Update. To set the restriction, click Save.
To delete a control restriction, select the Delete in the row that contains the restriction and click Save.
