System Groupings |
The System Groupings screen provides an easier way to organize large systems comprised of multiple subsystems. For example, you can define a building as one system comprised of several subsystems, including electrical, HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and so forth. System grouping enables you to assign “like” assets to groups. For example, you can assign the Electrical System grouping ID to all assets associated with the electrical system, including wiring, switches, bulbs, and so forth.
The top section of this tab displays the system grouping currently selected in the grid or being defined.
System grouping ID
Identifier of the system grouping. This field has a list box. Maximum field length is 30 characters.
The bottom section of this tab enables you to describe the grouping, specify whether it is active, and specify its display order. All fields are optional.
Short description
Brief description of the system group. Maximum field length is 60 characters.
Active
If this field has a check, the system grouping is active.
Note: The Active flag controls the system group ID choice-list and the system group ID validation. It is not used by Asset Viewer. Asset Viewer improves asset display order by logically grouping and displaying complex asset parent/child relationships.
Display order
Order in which the system group displays in the Asset Viewer. May be a negative number, and "0" is considered higher than "9999". The following example illustrates the display order hierarchy: -999, -99, -3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3, 99, 999, 9999, 0, null, where "null" is any asset that does not have a system group assigned and "0" is any asset whose system group has the default display order of "0".
Long description
Additional information about the system group. Maximum field length is 2,000 characters.
