Basic Info


The Basic Info tab enables you to define fee codes and record data about them.

Detail View Header

The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.

Fee code ID

Identifier of the fee code currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. Maximum field length is 20 characters. This field has a list box. If the code already exists, its description displays to the right of the ID. Required.

Detail View

The fields in the bottom section of the tab enable you to record details about the fee code.

Description

Text description of the fee code. Maximum field length is 30 characters. This field is optional.

Active

If this field has a check, the fee code is active.

Higher level group fee

If this field has a check, the fee is a higher level group fee. Group fees have two or more subfees listed under them.

Age-based rules

If a fee is based on the equipment's age, specify a value depreciation ID and the date from which depreciation should be calculated.

Value depreciation ID

Identifier of the value depreciation code. This field has a list box. If the code already exists, its description displays to the right of the ID. This field is optional.

Value depreciation codes and the percentage applied by year of age are specified on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Value Depreciation screen.

Calculate from date

Date from which depreciation should be calculated. This field has a list box:

Required if a value depreciation ID is provided. Otherwise, optional.

Fee Rules Data Table

The Fee rules screen group enables you to specify the rules associated with the fee code.

Delete

To delete the entries in the fields to the right, place a check in this field and click Save.

Fee amount

Amount of the fixed fee. Maximum field length is 12 characters, with two decimal places. Defaults to 0. May be a negative number. This field is optional.

Fee is x % of equip value

Percentage of the equipment's value that the fee represents. Maximum field length is 12 characters, with two decimal places. Defaults to 0. This field is optional.

Weight - low

Minimum weight of the equipment. Maximum field length is 12 characters. Defaults to 0. Required if there is a check in the Weight field on the More Info tab and the Weight - high field has a value of 0. Otherwise, optional. Must be a positive number if entered.

To specify that a fee applies to all vehicles over 10,000 pounds, for example, you might use a weight-low of 10,001 and a weight-high of 99,999.

Weight - high

Maximum weight of the equipment. Maximum field length is 12 characters. Defaults to 0. Required if there is a check in the Weight field on the More Info tab and the Weight - low field has a value of 0. Otherwise, optional. Must be a positive number if entered.

# of axles

Number of axles on the vehicle. Maximum field length is 12 characters. Defaults to 0. Required if there is a check in the Axle count field on the More Info tab. Otherwise, optional. Must be a positive number if entered.

County ID

Identifier of the county. This field has a list box. Required if there is a check in the County field on the More Info tab. Otherwise, optional.

County IDs are defined on the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Special Fees -> Setup -> Counties screen.

Postal code

Postal code associated with the county. This field has a list box. This field is optional.

Effective date

Date (in MMDDYYYY format) that the fee takes effect. Defaults to the current date. May be in the past or the future. Required if there is data in other fields in the row or if an expiration date is specified. Otherwise, optional.

Expiration date

Date (in MMDDYYYY format) that the fee expires. Defaults to the current date. May be in the past or the future. Optional, but must be greater than or equal to the effective date if entered.

Minimum value

If the fee involves a calculation (such as value-based fees), specify the minimum value for the calculated fee. Value-based fees may have a minimum of $1.00 or $2.00, depending on the state. Optional, but must be a positive number if entered.

Round to nearest whole amount

If this field has a check, the calculated fee is rounded to the nearest whole number.
