Operator Assignment


The Operator Assignment tab enables you to define operator requirements for the equipment unit and the way equipment account IDs are updated.

Data in the fields in the Equipment unit setup options section of this tab define the operator requirements for the equipment unit. They also define how equipment account IDs are updated. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.

Valid operator ID for equipment units

Specifies whether operator IDs are REQUIRED, OPTIONAL, or NOT REQUIRED to be associated with equipment units. It determines the level of checking performed for the operator ID on the Assignments tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen. See required, optional, or not required.

Require valid operator ID for accidents

If this field has a check,  information is required in the Operator ID field on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Accidents screen.

Require match between operator department ID and equipment department ID

If this field has a check, operators and their assigned equipment units must be assigned to the same department ID. The equipment unit's department ID is automatically set to the department ID for the operator assigned to that unit.

Restrict operator assignment to one equipment ID at a time

If this field has a check, an operator may not be assigned to more than one equipment ID at a time. If either the location option on the Locations Primary Information screen Functions tab, or the system option (this option) is set to restrict users, then that operator is only allowed to be assigned to one asset.

Update equipment account ID from operator account ID when unit is assigned to an operator

If this field has a check and an equipment unit is assigned to an operator, the equipment unit’s Account ID field is updated from the Account ID field of the operator assigned to the unit.

Update equipment account ID of all units assigned to an operator when operator account ID changes

If this field has a check and an operator ID is either required or optional for equipment units, a change of operator account ID causes all account IDs of all equipment units assigned to that operator to be updated.

Update equipment operator name when Operator ID name is updated

If this field has a check and the Operator ID name is changed on the Operator Primary Information screen, the assets assigned to the operator will have the operator name updated to the new value.

Validate operator license classification

If this field has a check, operator license classifications are validated.

Operator license classifications are defined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Operators -> Setup -> License Classification screen.
