Functions


The Functions tab enables you to display and specify the types of activities performed at the location. A location can be assigned multiple functions. You can also specify a work management classification on this tab.

Detail Header

The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.

Location ID

Identifier of the location currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. This field has a list box. The location name displays to the right of the ID.

Detail View

A check in any of the following fields indicate the location type. You can check as many types as are appropriate for a location.

Shop (regular)

Staff at this location perform repairs or preventive maintenance (PM). If this field has a check, the location must have a default repair site on work orders specified on the Work Orders - Defaults tab. 01 (FACILITY) is assigned as the default repair site, but you can change it.

Shop (mobile)

The location is a movable or quick-response facility (such as a truck) that performs repairs or preventive maintenance (PM).

Shop (external)

Staff at this location perform repairs or preventive maintenance; a third party operates the location under contract.

Equipment site

Equipment units are stored or operated at the location or yard.

Fueling site

The location dispenses fuel to equipment units.

Parts inventory

The location stocks and issues parts. Information is required in the Address ID fields for deliveries of parts at these locations. You can specify these types of locations as the Default parts inventory location for shop on the Work Orders - Defaults tab.

Pool (dispatch)

If the optional Motor Pool module is installed, the location is a pool dispatch site. This location supports pool reservations tracking. See also requirements for an equipment unit to be assigned to a motor pool and how to remove equipment units from a motor pool.

Station

The organization conducts business operations at this location. For options concerning station locations, see the General Info tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Options screen.

Test

The organization conducts equipment unit tests at this location. When you record the result of tests on equipment units, you can choose the location ID from the Test location ID field's list box on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Testing -> Test Results screen.

Shop scheduling active

The location uses the optional Shop Scheduling module, which allows you to use the Data -> Shop Activity -> Scheduling -> Create Schedule screen to generate shop schedules for the location.

Operations

The location is used for rail operations. The optional Operations module must be installed.

Allocation and assignment (quartermaster)

The location is designated as an allocation and assignment location. It displays in the drop-down list on the Allocation and Assignment screen as a location from which items can be assigned and prevents a part from being assigned from a location that has not been set up to support part assignments. The designation may be assigned to two or more locations.

Restrict operator assignment to one equipment ID at a time

Check this checkbox to restrict the operator to one equipment assignment at a time. This option affects operators by location assignment. If either the location option (this option), or the system option on the Equipment Unit Setup Options screen Operator Assignment tab is set to restrict users, then that operator is only allowed to be assigned to one asset.

Work management classification

Identifier of the work management classification for the location. This field has a list box. The classification's description displays to the right of the ID.
