How to close multiple work orders simultaneously |
Shop personnel designated to perform final review of work orders to ensure accuracy and completeness may use the Work Order Closing screen to review and close multiple work orders simultaneously.
Note: The Work Orders - Options and Work Orders - More Info tabs on the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Locations -> Primary Information screen include settings that generate warning messages when users attempt to finish or close work orders under certain conditions.
You can use the filter to display only those work orders with a WORK FINISHED status.
Tip: You can further restrict the results by using the Filter dialog box. For example, if you need to give your mechanics or office staff enough time to complete their data entry, you may want to see only those work orders that have been in WORK FINISHED status for more than 1 week. To do this, type a date range in the From work order finished date and To work order finished date fields in the filter.
If you know the list of work orders you want to finish or close, you can use Insert mode to enter the work order IDs and the other appropriate data.
If you have a stack of hard copy work orders with bar codes and your workstation is equipped with a wedge scanning device, you can scan the work order IDs into this screen. Place the cursor in the Work order location ID field in the group and then scan the work order ID you want to finish or close.
If MobileFocus is installed, you can use hand-held devices to transfer work order information back-and-forth between The system and the hand-held devices in order to work with the data from remote locations. See the related documentation for this product.
You can use Update mode to finish or close work orders.
Tip: Additional data entry may be required when closing a work order. Refer to Requirements for closing a work order. The system will alert you to what needs to be changed. Select the work order that needs to be modified and click the Edit selected work order button.
