How to create a SQL calls log |
If Customer Support requests that you create a SQL calls log for them, there are several methods that you can use.
Initiate logging in Console mode (application displays in a Windows command box on the screen)
Step 1. Log in and prepare to replicate the error.
Step 2. Open the App DOS window on the desktop.
Step 3. Press L.
The word Logging displays in the APP DOS window.
Step 4. In the GUI, replicate the problem that you reported.
Step 5. Once the error occurs, go back to the App window and press L again (stops logging mode).
The App directory will contain files named SQLCALLS0.log, SQLCALLS1.log,
and so forth, depending on how many users are logged into the App.
Step 6. Email the sqlcalls.logs to the individual who requested the logs.
Option 1:
Step 1. Create an app to run in console mode on a different port and have a GUI connect to that port.
Step 2. Follow the Initiate logging in Console mode procedure.
Option 2:
Step 1. Stop the service in the SERVICES window, click Startup, and click Allow service to interact with desktop.
Step 2. Restart the service.
A Windows command box displays.
Step 3. Follow the Initiate logging in Console mode procedure.
Step 1. Log into the GUI.
Step 2. Go to the System Mgmt -> Application Monitor screen.
Step 3. Filter on a status of ACTIVE and the IP address and port to which your GUI connects (this information is included in the properties of your GUI shortcut).
Step 4. Click
Prepare for Update
to unlock the record.
Step 5. Place
a check (ü)
in the Logging mode field and
click Process .
Step 6. Replicate the issue that you reported.
Step 7. On
the Application Monitor screen, click Prepare for Update
to unlock the record.
Step 8. Clear
the check (ü)
in the Logging mode field and
click Process .
Step 9. Locate the application directory (where fa_app.exe resides) and e-mail all files named SQLCALLSXXXX.log (where XXXX is a random number) to the individual who requested them.
