How to retire a vehicle |
You use the Fleet Equipment and Work Order Center screens to inactivate and dispose of vehicles.
Step 1. On the Status tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen, change the life-cycle status code ID to one that is designated for decommissioning or retirement. Also change the status in the Equipment status field to an applicable status.
Step 2. On the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen, input the actual date and time that the vehicle entered the shop. This will activate the work order that currently has a PENDING status and was manually created when the replacement vehicle was ordered,
Step 3. On the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen, ensure that all open work orders for the vehicle are closed.
Step 4. Make sure that all work orders, warranty issues, and part requests for the vehicle have been closed. If you track accidents, make sure that all accidents that involved the vehicle have been resolved.
Step 5. On the Authorization tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen, clear the Work orders, Usage tickets, and Fuel tickets fields.
Note: If there is a check (ü) in the Default authorization checkboxes when equipment changes from or to active status field on the General Info tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Options screen, the checkboxes are cleared automatically.
Step 6. Complete the fields on the Replacement/Disposition tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen as required by your organization.
Note: Depreciation stops once the retirement date has been reached, regardless of how many months remain on the depreciation cycle. To prevent the early cancellation of depreciation, do not enter a retirement date until the vehicle has truly been retired.
