Warranty |
The Warranty tab enables you to define warranty information on parts.
You can use the data on this screen to identify parts that were installed after an equipment unit was acquired and that failed under warranty or before the expiration of their expected life. You can make warranty claims for parts that fail under warranty and use the information on premature failures to make decisions about the quality of parts available from various vendors.
Note: Original issue parts that fail are covered under the equipment warranty, not the part warranty.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can sort on vendor ID, part ID, part suffix, and whether an entry is complete.
The fields in the top section of this tab define the data that displays.
Vendor ID
Identifier of the part vendor. This field has a list box. The vendor name displays to the right of the ID.
Vendor IDs are defined on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Vendors -> Primary Information screen.
Part ID
Valid identifier of the part. This field has a list box.
Part suffix
Part suffix associated with the part in the Part ID field. This suffix is automatically assigned to a part ID in order to distinguish it from a different part with the same part ID. This field is display only.
Data in the fields on the bottom section of this tab specifies warranty information about the part. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.
Months and Meter units
Number of months and/or meter units, starting from the date specified in the Warranty start field on the Basic Info tab, for which the part remains under warranty from the vendor or manufacturer. When you issue a part to a work order, this information is used to determine whether the old part on the equipment unit is still under warranty.
Months and Meter units
Number of months and/or meter units, starting from the date specified in the Warranty start field on the Basic Info tab, for which the part is expected to remain serviceable before it fails. When you issue a part to a work order, this information is used to determine whether the old part on the equipment unit has exceeded its expect life.
