Work Delay Codes |
The Work Delay Codes screen enables you to display and define codes (IDs) for the reason that work is delayed (non-productive downtime). You also can indicate the work order type to which the code applies and specify whether it is active.
Work delay codes enable you to:
Collect information about real costs, in terms of lost equipment availability, suffered as a result of inefficiencies in shop operations. These inefficiencies can include an insufficient number of properly equipped bays, too few qualified technicians, insufficient parts inventories, commercial services, or towing.
Account for component time periods between the date and time a work order is opened and the date and time it is closed.
In addition to the IDs defined on this screen, you can use IDs for the following special delay conditions defined on the Special Items tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Options screen.
Equipment not delivered
Awaiting transfer (user responsibility)
Awaiting transfer (shop responsibility)
To define a default work delay ID for new work orders opened at a location, use the Work Orders - Defaults tab on the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Locations -> Primary Information screen.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Work delay ID
The work delay identifier either currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. The maximum field length is six characters. This field has a choice list. If the work delay ID already exists, its description displays to the right of the ID.
The fields in the bottom section of this tab enable you to describe the work delay and specify the types of work orders to which it applies.
Description
Free-form text description of the work delay. The maximum field length is 30 characters.
Applies to equipment work orders
If this field has a check, the work delay code applies to equipment-related work orders.
Applies to part rebuild work orders
If this field has a check, the work delay code applies to part rebuild work orders.
Applies to linear work orders
If this field has a check, the work delay code applies to linear work orders.
Stop shop downtime when work order is in delay for this reason
If this field has a check, shop downtime is stopped while the work delay is in effect. Shop downtime restarts automatically once the delay has been lifted unless there is a check in the No downtime will accumulate for open work orders with this status field on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Service Statuses screen. Downtime restarts only if the service status and the current delay (if any) specify that it should.
Note: This option only affects shop downtime.
Stop user downtime when work order is in delay for this reason
If this field has a check, user downtime is stopped while the work delay is in effect. User downtime restarts automatically once the delay has been lifted.
Note: This option only affects user downtime.
Transfer by responsible location
If this field has a check, existing work orders can be transferred by changing the responsible location. Work order responsible location security is enforced when location security is enabled and there is at least one work delay code that has this option enabled.
Active
If this field has a check, the work delay ID is active and will display in choice lists.
