Basic Info |
The Basic Info tab enables you to create different types of chat groups: PERSONAL, PUBLIC, EXTERNAL, and SYSTEM.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. User IDs, user names, user nicknames, group names, and group types may be entered in mixed case, so you must filter on the correct case to retrieve the records you want. For example, filtering on MY GROUP will not return My Group, but filtering on M% will include My Group in the search results. User IDs created using the web interface may be in mixed case, but user IDs created using the GUI must be in all capital letters because that's the only format the GUI supports.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Chat group ID
Identifier of the chat group.
The fields in the bottom section of this tab enable you to establish each chat group's characteristics.
Name
The name of the chat group, such as Mechanics. Must be unique for PUBLIC groups and unique to each group owner. (In other words, a group owner may not create two groups with the same name.) Maximum field length is 50 characters. Names of groups, group types, and nicknames may be entered in mixed case. This field is required.
Owned by user ID
Identifier (nickname) of the user who owns (established) the chat group. This field populates automatically if the user ID entered on the Users tab already exists in the system. This field has a list box. Maximum field length is 30 characters. Required for PERSONAL groups. Must be blank for PUBLIC, EXTERNAL, and SYSTEM groups.
Product
The product associated with the chat group. This field populates automatically (with EAM) if the user ID entered on the Users tab is already in the system. Name may be entered in mixed case. Maximum field length is 20 characters.
Group type
The type of chat group. This field has a choice list, but the type must be PERSONAL or PUBLIC:
