Sequence Management |
The Sequence Management screen enables you to manage the ID sequences that are generated automatically for data items. Sequences are stored in the SEQ_MAIN table. You can use this screen, for example, to adjust a custom purchase order or motor pool format to start the sequencing at the next number in an existing sequence.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can sort on key column and key value.
Sequence ID
Identifier of the sequence that you want to adjust. This field has a list box.
Key column
Type of data in the key value. Display only.
Key value
Value (or values) from the key field (or fields) that specify the row that was inserted, updated, or deleted by the action recorded by the selected log entry. This field is display only.
Last sequence number
Last number in the sequence. The next time the sequence is called, the numbering begins with this value. Cannot be less than zero. Maximum field length is nine digits.
Reserved sequence number
Next sequence number that has been reserved for the web to use when building IDs.
Get next sequence number
Click this button to get the next number in the sequence and reserve it. Select the existing sequence ID from the shared section, then click the Get Next Sequence Number button. This will update the last sequence number in the database by one and send that value to Reserved Sequence Number field.
