Manufacturer Cause Codes |
The Manufacturer Cause Codes screen enables you to set up manufacturer-specific cause codes that can be related to symptoms and fail codes on service requests for warranty purposes.
When a warranty claim is submitted to the manufacturer, the work performed must be coded using that manufacturer's coding structure rather than your company's internal task coding structure.
The grid displays the manufacturer cause ID either currently selected or that you are defining. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.
Manufacturer ID
Identifier of the manufacturer associated with the cause code. This field has a list box. The system displays a description of the ID in the unlabeled field to the right.
Cause ID
Identifier of the cause code. You may create a new cause ID or select one from the list box. The manufacturer ID and cause ID must be a unique combination.
Note: You must have created a cause code on this screen before you can associate it with a task ID on a warranty.
Description
Description of the cause ID. This is a free-form text field with a 30-character length maximum.
Active
If this field has a check, this is an active cause code for the manufacturer. This field is optional.
