User Groups


The User Groups screen enables you to display and define data entries that relate to each of the organization’s user groups.

User groups control all access rights to screens and their tabs, data, and reports. Each user group has a defined set of access rights that is applicable to all users assigned to the group. You can assign each user to any number of user groups; the total rights of a user are the sum of the rights of all the groups to which the user is assigned. Therefore, you can define user groups with specific sets of access rights (for example, a user group for equipment information, a user group for parts activity, a user group for purchasing management) and then assign each user to all appropriate user groups.

For each user group, the system tracks the following:

One user ID can be related to many user groups. Users who are members of more than one user group have all the rights assigned on the Screen Rights Template but the fewest rights assigned on the Control Rights Template. In other words, if rights are removed on one template, that overrides the template on which those rights were granted.

You can use the filter to limit the display to specific user group IDs.
