The Basic Info tab for controls enables you to display identifying information about controls (fields and labels) on the screens. Only system administrators can update data on this tab.
To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can sort on screen ID, window ID, control order, default title, and grid order.
The fields in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Screen ID
Identifier of the screen on which the control appears. This field has a list box. The screen name displays to the right of the ID. To determine the screen ID for a specific screen, refer to How to display a field's properties (screen, window, and control IDs; and table and column name).
Window ID
Identifier of the window in which the control appears. This field has a list box. The window name displays to the right of the ID. To determine the window ID for a specific window, refer to How to display a field's properties (screen, window, and control IDs; and table and column name).
The bottom section of the tab displays the basic information about the controls. For users, all fields are display only.
Control order
Number of the order in which the control appears on the screen ID and window ID. This field has a list box. To determine the control order for a specific control, refer to How to display a field's properties (screen, window, and control IDs; and table and column name).
Control type
Number of the control type to which the control is assigned. Control types determine some aspects of how controls are displayed and processed. This field has a list box. The name of the control type displays to the right of the ID. Control types are defined on the System Mgmt -> Setup -> Screen Design -> Control Types screen.
Default title
Title of the control, as determined by its control type.
User title
Title of the control (as determined by its control type) as it appears on the screen.
Position
The position of the control, as defined by the following fields.
Tab order
Sequence in which the editable field is accessed when users tab through the fields. (If this value is 0, the field is not editable.)
Grid order
Column in which the field appears in the grid. (If this value is 0, the field does not appear in the grid.)
Vertical
Control’s vertical position on the screen.
Horizontal
Control’s horizontal position on the screen.
Width
Width (in characters) of the control.
Height
Height of the control.
