Specifies whether and how meter validation is performed. A meter reading is considered valid if the unit has been assigned to an equipment class for meter types and the difference between the current readings and the new readings is not greater than the value specified in the Meter edit range field on the Meter Info tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Primary Information screen. Fields that are not display-only have list boxes and are required to import data.

The meter validation options are as follows:

• Blank: Meter validation is performed. If the reading is not within the meter edit range, a message displays but the information is not processed.

• EQ UPD (equipment unit update): Meter validation is not performed. The meter reading is accepted and recorded as the new current meter reading. To specify this process, you must be assigned to a user group that has a check (ü) in the Update latest meter reading for unit field on the Special Rights tab of the System Mgmt -> Setup -> Access Rights -> User Groups screen.

• NO EQ UPD (no equipment unit update): Meter validation is performed. The meter reading is accepted as the new current meter reading for the equipment unit and used to determine the unit's incremental meter usage only if the reading falls within the meter edit range.

• • If the reading is at or below the meter edit range, the reading is accepted as the new current meter reading for the equipment unit and used to update the unit's incremental meter usage.

  • If the reading is greater than the meter edit range, the transaction is processed and the meter reading is recorded, but the unit's incremental meter usage is not updated.

To specify this process, you must be assigned to a user group that has a check (ü) in the Accept meter for transaction purposes only field on the Special Rights tab of the System Mgmt -> Setup -> Access Rights -> User Groups screen.

The meter edit range is specified on the Meter Info tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Primary Information screen.

The equipment class for meter types is assigned on the Meter Info tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen.
