Note: Non-linear assets do not display on this screen. Use the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen.
The Shapes screen enables you to define the shapes of linear and polygon assets with GIS coordinates. Examples include parking lots and building footprints. Shapes can be used to define the shapes of segments and assets on the map section of ActionMap.
The field in the top section of the Basic Info tab displays the shape ID. This field is required.
Shape ID
Identifier of the shape. Must be unique. The maximum field length is 30 characters.
Data in the fields in the bottom section of this tab define basic information about the shape. These fields are optional.
Shape type
Description of the shape. This field has a list box.
Line: A line of points
Polygon: A shape of many points
Geometry: A large set of data that is maintained through an interface with the GIS system
Shape length
The length of the shape.
Shape area
The area of the shape. This is calculated by the system to get the actual area of the shape. This is displayed in the units in which the linear asset is set such as feet, meters, etc. This field is display only.
The Points screen group enables you to specify the shape's dimensions.
Delete
To delete the entries in the fields to the right, place a check in this field and click Save.
Index
Reference point for the coordinate. Maximum field length is 9 characters. May be null (blank).
X coordinate
X coordinate (longitude coordinate) for the shape. This must be a valid longitude number between -180 and 180. Maximum field length is three characters before the decimal and 14 characters after. May be null (blank).
Y coordinate
Y coordinate (latitude coordinate) for the shape. This must be a valid latitude number between -90 and 90. Maximum field length is three characters before the decimal and 14 characters after. May be null (blank).
Z coordinate
Z coordinate for the shape. Maximum field length is three characters before the decimal and 14 characters after. If entered, must be numeric. May be null (blank). Entries cannot be lower than -999 or an error will display.
