Units |
The Units tab enables production managers to specify the items to be rebuilt and to generate work orders.
The information entered on the Basic Info tab determines whether you can enter components, equipment units, or parts on this tab:
Resources class only: Components or equipment units
Resources class and part ID: Components only
Part ID only: Parts (serialized or non-serialized) only
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can search on run ID, stage, part ID and suffix, requested or required date, and production ID, among others.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Run ID
Identifier of the production run. Automatically generated by the application. This field is display only.
The fields in the bottom section of this tab enable you to specify details about the items to be rebuilt.
Delete
To delete the entries in the fields to the right, place a check in this field and click Save.
Note: You cannot delete a production run for which a work order has been generated.
Serial number
Serial number of the part. This field has a list box of serial numbers associated with parts that have a status of either AWAITING REBUILD or AWAITING DISPOSITION. Required for serialized parts. May also be used for non-serialized parts.
Serial numbers for parts not tracked as components may only be assigned to one generated work order at a time. The serial number may not be changed once a work order has been generated. Generated work orders must be completed before the associated serial numbers may be used again.
Equipment ID
Identifier of the equipment unit. Must be blank for parts tracked as components. This field has a list box. This field is optional.
Note: Cannot
be changed once a work order has been generated.
If the serial number is associated with components that have the resources
class and part ID specified on the Basic Info
tab, this field auto-populates with the applicable equipment ID.
If the serial number is associated with multiple components that have
the same resource class but different part IDs, this field auto-populates
with the first ID listed in the database.
Qty
Number of units being rebuilt. If the part is serialized, the quantity must be 1.
Note: You may change the quantity even if a work order has been generated.
Generate WO
To generate a rebuild work order, place a check in this field and click Save. The WO location, -year, and -number fields populate automatically. The Status field changes from PENDING to ACTIVE once the first work order is generated.
If the item to be rebuilt is tracked by part ID and suffix, an internal rebuild work order is generated. All tasks display in the Tasks tab on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen. The work order approval flag is set to Y and the date and time opened are the current date and time.
If the item to be rebuilt is tracked by resource class, a Work Order Center work order is generated. The restocking location defaults to the parts location associated with the work order location. All tasks display in the Tasks tab on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen.
For serialized parts, a separate work order is generated for each part.
Work class
The work class for the production run. When you place a check in the Generate WO field, this field defaults to the work class for the work order location, but you can change it. The work class in this field is listed on the generated work order.
Note: A work class is required when opening a work order if there is a check in the Require work class on work orders field on the Work Orders - Options tab of the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Locations -> Primary Information screen.
WO location
Identifier of the work order location. Uses the location on the production type. This field is display only.
-year
Year that the work order was opened. This field is display only.
-number
Identifying number of the work order. This field has a zoom button that opens the Work Order Center screen. This field is display only.
Status
Status of the request. This field is display only. The statuses are:
PENDING
ACTIVE
COMPLETED
CANCELED
Parts requested
If this field has a check, a part request has been generated for the unit for the parts listed on the Parts Required tab.
Accumulated costs
Cost of the rebuild. This field is display only.
Current location
Location associated with the current stage. Display only.
Current stage
The stage with the lowest order number (independent of the group listing sequence) for the production type on the Basic Info tab. Display only.
Note: This field clears when the work order status is changed to CLOSED.
Date completed
Date (in MM/DD/YYYY format) that the work order was closed. This field auto-populates when the status changes to COMPLETED. Display only.
Move to stage
Identifier of the next stage in the process. This field has a list box of all stage IDs other than the current stage, followed by the stage description (or a blank if there is no stage description), a semicolon, "Order:", and the stage order from the production type.
Stages are associated with production types on the Stages tab of the Data -> Production Planning -> Setup -> Production Types screen.
View Related Work Order
When you highlight a row and click the View Related Work Order button, the applicable work order screen displays the work order details.
If the work order is an internal rebuild, the Data -> Parts Repair -> Internal Rebuilds screen appears.
If the work order is a repair order, the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen appears.
