Internal Rebuilds |
The Internal Rebuilds screen enables you to display and record information about work orders to rebuild parts internally, and then return them to inventory. If you are sending the part out for rebuild and need to track the transaction with a vendor through a purchase order, use the Data -> Parts Repair -> External Rebuilds screen. There are many items to consider when using this screen:
When you close a work order on this screen, the part is added to inventory (quantity specified in the Rebuild quantity field) to the location specified in the Restocking location ID field at the total price of the repair ([total labor cost + total parts cost + total commercial cost] + [quantity * core value for rebuilds]).
If you manage pricing by FIFO or LIFO, and post additional charges after closing a work order or releasing rebuilt items to stock, the most recently created lot is adjusted by the additional cost.
Note: You may not reopen internal rebuild work orders that were closed in a version prior to 5.7 (Effective with Release 5.8). However, you may re-open a closed work order if the work order’s location (specified by the first part of the work order ID) has a check in the Permit re-open of closed work orders field, on the Work Orders - Options tab of the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Locations -> Primary Information screen. Before you close a work order, be sure that you have posted all charges to it.
Internal rebuild activities for serialized components are supported on regular repair work orders. See serialized part rebuilds for more information. You cannot reopen an internal rebuild work order for a serialized component. You may issue serialized parts or core parts to repair or rebuild other parts.
Posting charges to work orders includes a list of all screens from which you can post charges to work orders. The charges are posted the same way from each screen.
Work orders can be for work to be performed in the shop, by vendors, or both.
About deleting work orders: Before you delete an open work order, you must manually reverse all entries of labor, parts, and commercial charges posted to it. See the Labor, Parts, and Commercial tabs to determine which charges have been posted.
If the optional Mobile Software is installed, you can use hand-held devices to transfer work order information between the system and the hand-held devices in order to work with the data from remote locations. Refer to the related documentation for these products.
