Equipment Classes |
The Equipment Classes tab enables you to specify the test required for each work order performed on a class of vehicle.
These settings will restrict the test type choice list based on the equipment ID entered. To require that the test type match these settings on entry of a test result, place a check in the Require that test is authorized for equipment unit field on the Basic Info tab.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can sort on test type ID and description.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Test type ID
Identifier of the type of test. This field has a list box. The test type description displays to the right of the ID.
The fields in the bottom section of this tab specify equipment classes that are authorized to undergo the test. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.
Delete
To delete the entries in the fields to the right, place a check in this field and click Save. You may not delete an equipment class that is currently associated with a test type.
Class purpose
Purpose of the equipment class. This field has a list box:
MAINTENANCE
PM PROGRAM
STANDARDS
RENTAL RATES
RESOURCES
METER TYPES
BENCHMARKING
Note: Benchmarking has not been implemented for linear assets.
Equipment class ID

Note: You may use the same class ID twice only if each ID has a different purpose.
Equipment class description
Description of the equipment class. This field populates automatically when an equipment class ID is specified. This field is display only.

The type of benchmark. This field has a list box. Required if the class purpose is BENCHMARKING. Otherwise, must be blank. Benchmarking class types are defined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Benchmarking Classes screen.
Automatically add to WO
If this field has an option selected other than NONE, the test result is automatically created when a work order is created for the specified class. Only occurs when inserting a work order.
NONE: This option does not require anything for work orders.
PM: This triggers the requirement for PM work orders.
REPAIR: This triggers the requirement for Repair work orders.
BOTH: This triggers the requirement for both PM and Repair work orders.
Required on WO
If this field has an option selected other than NONE, the test type is required on every work order for equipment units of the specified class and WO type. Type options include NONE, PM, REPAIR, or BOTH. If you want to associate a test with a specific task for a specific class, such as a brake test with each A service for a specified class, use the Procedures tab on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Class/Task Information screen.
NONE: This option does not require anything for work orders.
PM: This triggers the requirement for PM work orders.
REPAIR: This triggers the requirement for Repair work orders.
BOTH: This triggers the requirement for both PM and Repair work orders.
