How to test an Intermec printer for a Windows 95 print server or workstation |
Step 1. Place the supplied Intermec test disk into the diskette drive of the attached print server or workstation.
Step 2. At a command prompt, enter: MODE COM1:96,E,7,1,P
Step 3. The following message appears on the screen: Resident portion of MODE loaded COM1: 9600,e,7,1,p
Step 4. Make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on, the cables are securely connected, and the printer is loaded with labels and ribbon.
Step 5. At a command prompt, enter COPY <diskette drive>:PRINTEST.PRN COM1:, e.g., COPY A:PRINTEST.PRN COM1:
Step 6. The Intermec label printer prints a test label. If it does not, re-enter the MODE command in Step 2, using COM2: instead of COM1 and repeat Step 5. If the printer still does not print the label, you may need to try COM3: or COM4:.
Step 7. Verify that the Data -> System Management -> Printers -> Label Printer Types screen defines the type of printer.
Step 8. Verify that the Data -> System Management -> Setup -> Printers -> Printer Devices/Queues screen defines the printer device/queue.
