Standards |
The Standards tab enables you to define IDs for standards to apply to equipment units in a specific class. An equipment unit’s class for standards determines which entries on this screen apply to the unit. You can specify the time required to complete a task. You also can specify the standard hours for a task by work accomplished code.
When you enter a task and a work accomplished code on the Tasks tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen, the estimated hours default to the labor hours value from the standard labor hours by work accomplished code group on this tab. If you do not enter a work accomplished code, the estimated hours default to the labor hours value on this tab.
The fields in the top section of this tab define the data that displays.
Equipment class ID
Valid identifier of the equipment class to which the standard applies. This field has a list box. The class name displays to the right of the ID.
Equipment classes are defined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Primary Information screen.
Task or standard ID
Valid identifier of the task or standard. This field has a list box. The following choices are predefined and appropriate for standards.
Any repair group: Repair group number
Any repair task: Complete repair task code
Any PM service: Letter that designates the PM service
Any standard: Valid ID of a standard. (See also metric variant.) Examples:
MPG: Miles per gallon (fuel)
GPH: Gallons per hour (fuel)
MPQ: Miles per quart (oil) (in thousands)
L/100KM: Liters per 100 kilometers (fuel)
L/HR: Liters per hour (fuel, oil)
KM/L: Kilometers per liter (oil) (in thousands)
$TO: Total operating cost (fuel, fluids, miscellaneous)
$TR: Total repair cost
$TP: Total PM cost
The description displays to the right of the ID.
Data in the fields at the bottom section of this tab define the standards for the task. The system uses the information in these fields and the calculation of the current average standard time labor rate to calculate the standard value. If you specify that labor be charged at the single rate, the system uses the single average labor rate. Otherwise, it uses the average of the standard hourly rates for all employees who record their time.
Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.
Labor hours
Standard to apply for number of labor hours (to the nearest hundredth of an hour) required to complete one execution of the task on an equipment unit in this class for standards. Required if there is no information in the Cost per meter unit field. May be set manually or generated automatically. This field is not appropriate if the Task or standard ID field specifies MPG, GPH, MPQ, or their metric equivalents.
Generated
If this field has a check, the number of labor hours was generated automatically. This field is display only. Standards are determined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class-> Standards Calculation screen.
On
Date and time (in MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM format) that the labor hours standard was calculated. This field is display only.
Proposed labor hours
You can see the proposed labor hours when they have not been applied yet.
Duration (days)
Standard for the number of days (duration) needed to complete the job. Defaults to zero (0). Maximum field length is 12 characters, including two decimal places. Must be greater than or equal to zero.
Parts cost
Standard to apply for the total expected cost of parts (provided by the vendor) that are required to complete one execution of the task on an equipment unit in this class for standards. If parts costs are applicable and there is no information in the Cost per meter unit field, a parts cost of zero is used.
Meter frequency
Number of meter units (or engine hours, as appropriate) expected to elapse between performances of the task on the same unit of equipment. Required for the system to calculate a standard if there is no information in the Cost per meter unit field.
If a meter frequency is not specified, the Labor hours field is used as the only standard.
Cost per meter unit
Standard value of the cost to perform the task, per meter unit, to the nearest tenth of a cent (three decimal places). If you leave this field blank and enter information in the Labor hours, Parts cost, and Meter frequency fields, the system calculates the cost. For the labor rate used in the calculation, see Calculation of standard labor rate.
To recalculate the cost per meter unit, clear the field and then reprocess.
The fields in the Standard labor hours by work accomplished code screen group specify the standard to apply for the number of labor hours (to the nearest tenth of an hour) required to complete one execution of a specific part of a task (work accomplished code) on an equipment unit. All fields are optional.
Delete: To delete the entries in the fields to the right, place a check in this field and click Save.
Work accomplished code: Code associated with the task or standard ID for the work accomplished. This code provides more detail about the work performed in relation to the task. Work accomplished codes are defined on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Work Accomplished Codes screen.
Labor hours: Standard to apply for number of hours of labor (to the nearest hundredth of an hour) required to complete one execution of the work accomplished code on the task.
Note: Standards calculated by the system may be negative, because negative labor hours are allowed on work orders.
Tip: If you specify a work accomplished code for a task on the Tasks tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen, the system displays the value from this (Labor hours) field in the Estimated hours field on the Work Order Center screen. If you do not specify a work accomplished code, the system displays the value in the first Labor hours field on this screen in the Estimated hours field on the Work Order Center screen.
Generated: If this field has a check, the system determined the standard. This field is display only. Standards are determined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class-> Standards Calculation screen.
Note: If you subsequently update the standard labor hours manually, both this checkbox and the date in the on field clear. This functionality applies to standard labor hours by class/task combination as well as standard hours defined by class/task and work accomplished code.
On: Date and time (in MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM format) that the system determined the standard. This field is display only.
Position ID: Identifier of the position. This data is only for reporting. It is not calculated on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Standards Calculation screen, and standard hours defined by position are not used as default expected hours for tasks on work orders.
Proposed labor hours: The proposed amount of hours for labor.
Proposed hours calculated on: The proposed amount of labor hours used for calculation.
The fields in the Fuel/fluid standards group data table enable you to specify fuel/fluid standards, including high and low values. These values may be used for reporting purposes, or may be used for additional MAXQueue capabilities in the future. All fields are optional.
Delete: To delete the entries in the fields to the right, place a check in this field and click Save.

MPG: Miles per gallon (fuel)
MINIMUM QUANTITY (fluid)
MAXIMUM QUANTITY (fluid)
Fuel/fluid type: The type of fuel or fluid to which the standard applies. This field has a list box.
