Shop Scheduling Module

The Shop Scheduling module helps you manage all shop resources, including employees, materials, and equipment. It generates schedules for employees, job trades, and work crews in a shop for a user-specified time period, based on the resource requirements (including labor, work bays, parts and materials, tools, and equipment) and priority of pending work. Authorized users can update schedules as required to account for emergency repairs or unscheduled time off for mechanics (such as sick time).

The scheduler will attempt to schedule items that have no resource requirements defined, and you can then refine your class/task information for the work that requires specialty skills, parts, or bays. To use this functionality, work orders must have expected tasks, those tasks must have expected hours, and employees with appropriate calendars must be assigned to the shops.

You do not need to set up a crew of specific employees in order for the scheduler to schedule tasks that require a crew. The application determines the optimum combination of employees to perform the task based on the skills required. A specifically defined crew is given precedence if available, so it is beneficial to set up defined crews.

The scheduler schedules expected tasks on internal rebuild work orders, including part rebuild work orders generated using the Production Planning module. If the internal rebuild work order was generated through production planning, the scheduler obtains resource requirements from the production type and schedule tasks in the order that the stages are to be performed. A regular internal rebuild work order is scheduled based on no resource requirements being available.

If shop scheduling is supported, the Capacity hours, Non-work activity hours, Hours available, Assigned hours, and day calendar will be visible in the Shop Activity modules.

The Scheduling menu appears on the Data -> Shop Activity menu. It provides access to the following screens:

The menu includes a Setup sub-menu, which provides access to the following screens:
