Part Classifications |
The Part Classifications screen enables you to display and define parts classifications. Part classification IDs are associated with parts on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Parts Items -> Primary Information screen.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Part classification ID
Identifier of the part classification currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. This field is required. This field has a list box. If the classification already exists, its description displays to the right of the ID.
Data in the bottom section of the tab define the part classifications.
Description
Description of the part classification.
Consumable
If this field has a check, the part is a generic consumable item. Most parts are consumable.
Repairable/rebuildable - fixed price
If this field has a check, the part is repairable or rebuildable at a fixed price.
Repairable/rebuildable - price to be agreed
If this field has a check, the part is repairable or rebuildable at a negotiable price.
Exchangeable
If this field has a check, the part can be exchanged.
Warrantable
If this field has a check, the part may have a warranty on it. The removed part may need to be kept if replaced while the unit is under bumper-to-bumper warranty.
When you issue a warrantable part for a work order, the vendor ID is required. A determination is made as to whether you are issuing the part to replace a part that is still under warranty. Refer to Parts Failures, Warranty, and Expected Life.
Has a core
If this field has a check, the part includes a core part that you must return to vendor for core credit. This field must have a check in order to generate a core claim when you issue a part. A check automatically displays in the Core credit field on the screen from which you issue the part. Not required for rebuildable items.
For a list of screens from which you can issue parts, refer to information for posting parts.
Serialized
If this field has a check, a serial number is required before the part may be issued, received, transferred, or repaired.
Note: Data is created and maintained in the Serialized Parts screen for parts marked as serialized.
Requires positional information
If this field has a check, position information must be entered when installing or removing the part.
Re-useable
If this field has a check, the part may be used again.
Allow fractional quantity
If this field has a check, the part may be issued in fractional quantities, such as 100.25. Examples of parts that are often issued in fractional quantities include gravel, bulk fluids, and hose or pipe.
Note: You may not select this option if there is a check in the Repairable/rebuildable field, the Has a core field, or the Serialized field.
