Sorts

The Sorts tab enables you to define the order in which data items display or print and to assign a sequence (ascending or descending) to the order of the items.

Data are stored in the database in the order in which you insert it. You can base the sort sequence for the query or report on any number of the data items selected for the query or report. You cannot base the sort sequence on user-defined items for the query or report. If you define a sort order which does not correspond to one of the predefined indexes for the first table selected on the Data Items tab, when you run the query or report there will be a delay while the data are sorted for the query or report.

In addition to the Query/Report Generator, you can use FA Web Modules or any other reporting tool sold separately (such as Microsoft Access) that can attach to the database. Refer the related documentation for these products.

The top section of this tab displays a list of existing queries or reports. If a query or report is highlighted, the sorting order for that report displays in the center area in the bottom section of the tab. This field has a list box.

To define a sort for the query or report, see How to Define Sorts.
