Parts Cannibalization |
The Parts Cannibalization screen enables you to view and record parts taken from one equipment unit and used on another equipment unit.
In order for the part to be charged to the equipment unit receiving it, the part must have been previously issued to the equipment unit from which it is being removed. If you are cannibalizing a part from an equipment unit and the part was not originally issued to that unit, use the normal parts issue and parts return functions on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen and provide appropriate unit price information for the part.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can sort on part ID, work order location ID (from and to), equipment ID (from and to), and task ID, among other values. If you specify a cross-reference part ID that cannot be found, the applicable part ID is searched for and displayed.
Data in the fields in the tab section define the information about the cannibalized part. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.
Part ID
Identifier for the part. The ID is associated with the part suffix. This field has a choice list. The part must have been issued to the equipment unit from which it is being removed. The part description displays to the right of the ID.
If you enter a valid cross-reference entry for the part ID/suffix, it is automatically converted it to the appropriate part ID/suffix. If more than one valid part ID/suffix is associated with the cross-reference part ID, a choice list of valid part ID/suffixes displays from which to choose.

The third part of the field is the number of the work order, which also has a choice list.

Quantity removed
Total number of units of the part removed from the equipment unit.

In the From/Work order ID field, the part is credited at this unit price to that equipment unit.
