Locations |
The Locations tab enables you to associate a work management classification with a task. You can also restrict task IDs by location and vendor. This is useful if your organization maintains a diverse set of equipment units across multiple locations. The restriction also applies to indirect tasks, based on the location where the employee is working or is normally assigned.
For example, you have tasks that apply only to heavy equipment, tasks that apply only to light equipment, and some tasks that apply to all equipment. After you set up your tasks to support specific asset categories, task ID choice lists show only those tasks that are applicable to the equipment unit on the work order.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can sort on task ID, description, task type, related component, and asset category ID, among other values.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Task ID
Identifier of the task currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. If the task ID already exists, the task description displays to the right of the ID. This field has a list box of IDs that have a check in the Active field on the Basic Info tab, which indicates you can post charges to the task.
Task IDs are defined on the Basic Info tab.
Data in the fields in the bottom section of this tab enable you to specify the tasks, vendors, and work management classification associated with a location. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are optional.
Supports all locations
If this field has a check, the task ID is used by all locations.
Work management classification
Work management classification. This field has a list box. The description of the work management classification displays to the right of the field.
Work management classifications are defined on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Work Management Classification screen.
The Supports only the following locations screen group enables you to specify which locations and vendors support the task ID. Choice lists for tasks and vendors are based on this information. Task ID lists are limited to those tasks that apply to the equipment unit on the work order. Vendor ID lists display the vendor (or vendors) assigned to the task first, followed by all active vendors.
Delete
If this field has a check, the entire row is deleted when you click Save.
Location ID
Identifier of the location. This field has a list box.
Locations are defined on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Locations -> Primary Information screen.
Location name

Vendor ID
Identifier of the vendor that supports the task. This field has a list box. Optional.
When a task ID is added to a work order and there is a check in the Maintain Work Assignment data field on the Special Items tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Options screen, the vendor is assigned to the work order's work assignment record for the task. When a task ID is added to a work order and the Maintain Work Assignment data field is blank, the vendor is assigned to the work order.
Vendor IDs are defined on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Vendors -> Primary Information screen.
Vendor name
The vendor's name. Auto-populates when you specify a vendor ID.
