Component Relationships |
The Component Relationships screen enables you to display and define relationships between components and their parent equipment units. You can define all components for a specific equipment unit, or all equipment units with a specific component.
When a parent-child relationship is made, the system will change the child assigned locations to the parents assigned locations.
To support reporting costs incurred on components attached to an equipment unit, the top-level parent equipment ID for each cost transaction is recorded. Standard cost reports in the software Web Modules based on this equipment data let you see your equipment's full operating costs.
For service-level agreement (SLA) purposes, each equipment and component combination are treated as a separate equipment category (two units that are identical except for a component attachment must be assigned to different equipment categories).
If you change the equipment and component relationship for a unit that is subject to an SLA, you must change the SLA equipment category of the parent unit to a new category appropriate for the new relationship. To do so, use the Classes tab on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen.
When you replace or delete a component relationship, any new relationship, the ending date of previous relationships, and the equipment unit’s current meter readings at the time are recorded on the following screen and table:

This screen supports location-level access control. If it is in effect, the logged in user must have view rights to the access rights location for the equipment ID to view records and update rights to the access rights location for both the equipment ID and component ID to insert, update, or delete records.
