Location-level access control

The system supports location-level access control for data that relates to equipment units, shops, parts inventory, motor pools, and other objects. Location-level access control is available only if there is a check in the Grant access to data only for authorized location IDs field on the Special Rights tab of the System Mgmt > Setup -> Access Rights -> User Groups screen for all the user groups to which the user is assigned.

• If the object is an equipment unit, the system users can display or modify information about the unit only if they are assigned to a user group that has a check in either the View or Update fields on the System Mgmt -> Setup -> Access Rights -> Rights Templates -> Location Access screen for the location ID to which the unit is assigned for access rights security. Location IDs are specified in the Location type/Access rights field on the Locations tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen.

• If the object is a part or a work order, the system users can display or modify (insert and update) information about it only if they are assigned to a user group that has a check in the appropriate View and Update fields on the System Mgmt -> Setup -> Access Rights -> Rights Templates -> Location Access screen for the location ID to which the part or work order is assigned.

Location-level security also applies to location ID choice lists on screens where location-level security is in effect.

• Note: If you are not authorized to modify the assigned PM shop location, you can update PM schedules and open PM orders from this screen if you belong to a user group that has view access to the assigned PM shop location ID and can mass update PM schedules or mass open PM orders. User access rights are granted on the System Mgmt -> Setup -> Access Rights -> User Groups screens.
