Message Printers (Departments) |
The Message Printers tab for departments enables you to display and specify the printers on which departments receive messages.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Department ID
Identifier of the department currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. If the ID already exists, the department name displays to the right of the ID. This field has a list box.
Data in the fields in the bottom section of this tab specifies the printers on which the department receives messages.
Delete
If this field has a check, the entire row is deleted when you click Save.
Printer ID
Identifier of the printer that accepts messages sent to this department. This field has a list box of those printers that have a check in the For messages only field on the System Mgmt -> Setup -> Printers -> Printer Devices/Queues screen. This field is optional.
If the optional Motor Pool module is installed and you want to send a fax to the department about the motor pool, you can specify the printer ID on the Output Control tab of the Motor Pool Center screen or in the Output destination field on the Manage tab of the Query/Report Generator screen. For more information, see A-OK in the FAX directory.
If the Service Level Agreements module is installed, messages are automatically sent to this printer regarding changes in the operational status of the department’s equipment units. The following operational status changes generate messages:
Equipment unit must be transferred from one shop to another
Work is finished on an equipment unit
An equipment unit with the status of OUT OF SERVICE (on the Status tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen) was not found at the designated location
If the optional Motor Pool module is installed and there is a check in the Print motor pool confirmation tickets field on the Basic Info tab, the printer prints messages about reservations that are made through the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Motor Pool -> Motor Pool Center screen and have a reservation status of either STANDBY or CONFIRMED.
Output destination and printer description
Output destination and description of the printer in the Printer ID field. The destination displays after you specify the printer ID. Display only.
The System Management -> Setup -> Printers -> Printer Devices/Queues screen associates output destinations with printer names one of the following ways:
Name of the print queue.
Path to and file name under which you want to save the records as text files. If the file already exists, the output is added to the existing file.
