A route, which is a one-way sequence of stops, provides the basis for creating schedules. The Routes screen enables you to identify and link all stops along the right of way from the initial departure point of the train to the farthest point at the end. Routes are defined in the outbound direction. One stop can be on more than one route; for example, a downtown hub station.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Route ID
Identifier of the route. The maximum field length is 10 characters. This field is required. This field has a list box. If the name already exists, its description displays in the unlabeled field to the right.
The bottom section of the tab enables you to provide more information about the route.
Description
Text description of the route. The maximum field length is 30 characters. This field is required.
Location ID
Identifier of the operations location. This field is optional. This field has a list box. The location ID description displays in the unlabeled field to the right. If you specify a location ID, the stops must belong to the same location. Although this field is not required, it is needed to use the Dispatch Trips screen.
Location IDs are defined on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Locations -> Primary Information screen. Stops are defined on the Data -> Operations -> Setup -> Stops screen.
Department ID
Identifier of the department. This field is optional. This field has a list box. The department description displays to the right of the ID. Transits may use department IDs to track division.

If this field has a check (ü), the entire row is deleted when you click Save.

Number that identifies the order of the stops on the route. Numbers must be greater than zero; the order must be consecutive; and duplicates are not allowed. If this field is left blank, it defaults to the next highest number in the sequence (starting with 1). Maximum field length is four characters.
Stop ID

Minutes from last
The minutes from the last stop. Include this information if each scheduled trip along the route takes the same amount of time, regardless of time of day.
The minutes from last is used to calculate arrival time and departure time on the Data -> Operations -> Schedules screen. When the schedule record is inserted with the Default stop information from route checkbox selected, the arrival and departure times for each stop are automatically calculated.
