Comments |
The Comments tab enables you to view and record comments related to service requests.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can sort on equipment ID, repair reason, symptom, operating restriction, segment ID, to/from marker ID, and to/from offset, among other values. The list of searchable fields on the filter is extensive; use the scroll bar to view them all. If you specify a range, any record that crosses any part of that range will be displayed.
The Service Requests/Defects screen supports department-level and location-level access control, so you must belong to a user group with the applicable authorizations in order to make changes or updates.
The fields in the top section of this tab default from the Basic Info tab. They are read only.
Date and time entered
Date and time the service request was created.
Entered by
Identifier of the person who entered the service request.
Description
Text field for a description of the service request. The maximum field length is 60 characters. If provided, this description displays on the Service Requests/Defects tab of the Work Order Center, Work Order Completion, and Linear Work Order screens and the Comments tab of the Work Assignment screen. Optional.
Tip: When you close a work order on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center, Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order – Short Form, or Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Completion screen and the completion/work accomplished code for the task has a check in the Deferred maintenance and Final status fields on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Work Accomplished Codes screen, the first 60 characters of comment text recorded on those screens display in this field.
Comments
Free-form text field in which you can comment on the service request reported for the equipment unit. Maximum field length is 200 characters. If you enter a comment but not a description for the service request, the first 60 characters of the comment are inserted in the Description field. Optional.
Tip: When you close a work order on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center, Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order – Short Form, or Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Completion screen and the completion/work accomplished code for the task has checks in the Deferred maintenance and Final status fields on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Work Accomplished Codes screen and there is a check in the Transfer all work order comments and notes to generated service requests or work orders field on the Work Orders – Options tab of the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Locations -> Primary Information screen, this field displays all comments from the Notes and Comments tabs of the applicable work order screen. The comments are separated by carriage returns, and each note includes "ORIGINATED -- WORK ORDER ID: <loc>-<year>-<no>".
Condition
Free-form text field in which you can describe the condition of the equipment unit or record a comment regarding the defect. Maximum field length is 200 characters. This field is optional.
