The system supports department-level access control for data related to equipment units. Access to data for any such object is granted only if there is a check in the Grant access to data only for authorized department IDs field on the Special Rights tab of the System Mgmt > Setup -> Access Rights -> User Groups screen for all user groups to which the user is assigned.

If the object is an equipment unit, users can display or modify information about the unit only if they are assigned to a user group that has a check in the View or Update field for the screen ID on the System Mgmt -> Setup -> Access Rights -> Rights Templates -> Department Access screen for either the department ID to which the unit is assigned or the department ID to which it is currently on temporary loan.
