Related Component/Warranty

The Related Component/Warranty tab enables you to specify equipment components associated with the task ID for which warranty information is tracked. Open work orders are checked for tasks that have a related component listed on this screen. The warranty on the component is checked, and a message is displayed and printed if the component is still under warranty.

Task ID

This field has a list box of IDs that have a check in the Active field on the Basic Info tab, which indicates you can post charges to the task.

Task IDs are defined on the Basic Info tab.

Detail View

Data in the fields in the bottom section of this tab specify the related components for warranty purposes. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.

Related component for warranty purposes

Equipment component related to the task ID for which component warranty information is tracked. This field has a list box. The default is blank (none).

For each open work order, the system checks the Tasks tab on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen for tasks that have a related component specified. If the component is listed, the system automatically checks the warranty for the equipment unit. If the component is still under warranty, a notification message displays and is printed on the work order.

When you close a work order, if the Tasks tab associates the task with a work accomplished code for which the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Work Accomplished Codes screen has a check in the Restarts warranty on component field, the system uses the values in the Duration - months and Meter 1 units fields on the Component Warranties tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Additional Data screen to update the Expiration date and Expiration life meter 1 fields on that tab.

Task never under warranty

If this field has a check, the task will never be eligible for warranty. This field is optional.

Task is covered under warranty except for these manufacturers

The screen group enables you to specify tasks that are normally considered under warranty but should be excluded from warranty for certain manufacturers.
