Component Warranties

The Component Warranties tab enables you to define information about the equipment unit’s component warranties. You can track extended warranties on items such as engines or transmissions. If you pre-arrange extended warranties on equipment units, you can also use this tab to specify multiple concurrent warranty periods.

Information on this tab ties back to the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen when work is performed on components whose individual warranties are tracked in the system. Users are aware that work on the component is covered by warranty.

When the system closes a work order that includes a task with an associated component and a work accomplished code that indicates the component warranty period is to be reset, the warranty information is updated for all warranty periods associated with that component type for that equipment unit. Component warranty periods are reset if the task has a work accomplished code with a check in the Restart warranty on components field on the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Work Accomplished Codes screen.
