Position |
The Position tab enables you to define single-point linear-related assets, such as controls and signals.
Note: If you want to transfer equipment units previously defined as single-point assets on the Linear Assets screen to this tab, please contact Customer Support for assistance.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can search on equipment ID, serial number, asset category ID, segment ID, to/from marker ID, assigned repair location ID, and department ID, among other values. The list of searchable fields on the filter is extensive; use the scroll bar to view them all. If you specify a range, any record that crosses any part of that range will be displayed.
Note: Filtering data based on fuel/fluid type uses the information in the Supported fuel/fluid types screen group on the Codes tab.
The Asset Primary screen supports department-level and location level access control, so you must belong to a user group with the applicable authorizations to make changes or updates.
The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.
Equipment ID
Identifier of the equipment unit currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. This field has a list box. The equipment unit year, manufacturer, and model display to the right of the ID.
When you insert an equipment unit with an asset category that supports automatic numbering and this field is blank, the system generates an equipment ID that follows the format specified in the Custom ID structure field on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Asset Categories screen. If you specify an ID and the equipment’s asset category supports automatic numbering, the ID is not overwritten.
Whether an asset category supports automatic numbering is specified on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Asset Categories screen.
Asset type
The type of asset.
The fields in the bottom section of this tab display the position information. All fields are optional.
Marker ID/segment ID
Identifier of the marker and segment. Each of these fields has a list box. If the marker is assigned to more than one segment ID, you must select a segment ID from the list box. The marker description displays beneath the ID.
x offset
Distance along the segment from the marker ID.
y offset
Distance perpendicular to the centerline of the segment from the marker ID.
z offset
Distance from ground level of the marker ID.
Elevation
Elevation of the marker ID.
Latitude
Last recorded latitude of the equipment unit.
Longitude
Last recorded longitude of the equipment unit.
Line ID
Identifier of the line. If entering a new ID, it must be unique and a maximum of 20 characters. This field has a list box of existing IDs. The ID description displays in the field to the right.
Note: If the Linear Assets module is not active, you may use this field however you want. If the module is active, the line ID must be valid.
Boundary segment ID
Identifier of the segment boundary. To define a location as an area, specify the boundary segment ID and then set up the segment with markers to define the boundary. This field has a list box.
Segment IDs are defined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Linear Assets -> Setup -> Segments screen.
Note: A LinearFocus license is not required to use this field.
Shape ID
Identifier of the shape. This field has a list box. The shape description displays in the field to the right.
Shapes are defined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Linear Assets -> Setup -> Shapes screen.
Address ID
The identifier of the address where the asset is located. This field has a zoom button to open the Addresses screen.
