How to create import files

All import file records are of variable length; a single new line character (hex 0d0a) follows each record. Commas separate fields within a record. Text values should not include trailing spaces. For a detailed explanation of records in import files, see records.

A single import file can include transactions for only one screen, although each file can include transactions of all types (insert, modify, and delete).

The following Help topics explain how to use the automatic import-file creation program to create import files for each transaction type.

import files that insert records

import files that modify (update) records

import files that delete records
