Replenishment |
Note: The Replenishment tab replaced the EOQ tab in Release 6.0.
The Replenishment tab enables you to specify the replenishment method and criteria for a parts location. You may also specify a default replenishment generation type for a part.
Tip: You can use the filter to restrict the information that displays to a specific part ID, part suffix, inventory location, keyword, short description, product category, or part classification, among others. If you specify a cross-reference part ID that cannot be found, the applicable part ID is searched for and displayed.
The Location Information screen supports location level access control, so you must belong to a user group with the applicable authorizations to make changes or updates.
Data in the fields in the top section of this tab are display only from the Basic Info tab.
Part ID
Identifier of the part. The ID is associated with the part suffix. This field has a zoom button (to the Data -> Parts Items -> Cross references screen, which defines cross-references of part IDs) and a list box. The part description displays to the right of the ID.
Part suffix
Number associated with the part in the Part ID field, which distinguishes it from other parts with the same part ID.
Inventory location ID
Identifier of the location where the part inventory is stored. This field has a list box. The location name displays to the right of the ID.
Data in the fields on the bottom section of this tab enable you to specify the replenishment method.
Replenishment method
The replenishment method. This field is required. The choices are:
Perform EOQ or MIN-MAX calculation
Specifies whether the EOQ or MIN-MAX calculation should be performed. This field has a list box.
Note: MIN-MAX applies only if you manage inventory BY ENTERPRISE.
If there is a check in the Economic order quantity calculations field on the System Mgmt -> End of Period screen when you run end-of-period processing or YES displays in the Calculate item field on the Data -> Enterprise Purchasing -> Replenishment -> Calculate Replenishment Parameters screen, the selection you make in this field is treated as follows:
NO: Neither EOQ nor MIN-MAX values are calculated for this part at this location. Use this setting to prevent values from being overwritten by the replenishment calculation process.
YES: EOQ or MIN-MAX values are calculated for this part at this location, and any settings that you modified manually are overwritten.
PROMOTE: Neither EOQ nor MIN-MAX values are calculated for this part at this location.
Other options that affect this selection are as follows:
If there is a check in the End of month for month ____ Year ____ field when you run end-of-period processing on the System Mgmt -> End of Period screen, all parts set to PROMOTE are checked to determine whether they qualify for EOQ calculation.
If you manage parts ordering and economic order quantity BY LOCATION or ENTERPRISE and there is a value in the Minimum age of part at a location for EOQ calculation (months) field on the Inventory tab of the Data -> Setup -> Organization Structure -> Locations -> Primary Information screen, the part must have been at its location for the specified minimum before EOQ calculations are performed.
For other parameters that affect EOQ processing, refer to the General tab on the Data -> Parts Items -> Setup -> Options screen.
Default replenishment generation type
Default action applied when you choose DEFAULT as the action on the Generate tab of the Data -> Enterprise Purchasing -> Replenishment -> Replenishment Management screen. Any default noted on the part location takes precedence over the location default. This setting does not affect purchase orders on the Data -> Purchasing -> Reordering screen when you manage parts either CENTRALLY or BY LOCATION.
If you manage inventory BY ENTERPRISE and want a part to have a different replenishment generation type than the default for the location, specify it in this field. If all parts at a location can be handled the same, you may leave this field blank. This field is optional.
This field has a list box:
PURCHASE ORDER
REQUISITION
REQUEST FOR B/Q/P
TRANSFER REQUEST
Note: If you select TRANSFER REQUEST, the part's inventory location must be different from the supplied-by location. If the supplied-by location is blank, the default inventory supplied-by location must be different from the inventory location.
PRODUCTION REQUEST (only available if the Production Planning module is active)
Note: If you select PRODUCTION REQUEST and part tracking is activated, the part suffix must indicate REBUILD.
Tip: If you use the Production Planning module, you may want to set the parts you rebuild in house to PRODUCTION REQUEST. If a location normally manages its own ordering but certain parts are transferred from a centralized warehouse location to replenish the location, set this field to TRANSFER REQUEST.
Supplied by location if transfer request
The location, other than the inventory supplied-by location, from which to obtain replenishment parts. This option applies only if the Default replenishment generation type field specifies TRANSFER REQUEST. Optional, but must be a valid part location if entered. This field has a list box.
Automatically calculate ABC code
If this field has a check, the ABC code for the part is set automatically.
Reorder point
Stock level (in units of issue) at which an order for this part is to be placed at this location. Only applies to EOQ replenishment method.
If the Perform EOQ or MIN-MAX calculation field specifies YES, the reorder point is calculated when the standard EOQ calculation runs. (Refer to the System Mgmt -> End of Period screen or the Data -> Enterprise Purchasing -> Replenishment -> Calculate Replenishment Parameters screen.)
Tip: If the General tab on the Data -> Parts Items -> Setup -> Options screen specifies to manage parts either BY LOCATION or ENTERPRISE, inventory and reorder information only at this location are used to compute the reorder point, which displays in this field. You can change the value. To prevent the system from recalculating the value and overriding the one you set, specify NO in the Perform EOQ or MIN-MAX calculation field.
Calculated: If this field has a check, the reorder point has been calculated.
last at: The date (in MMDDYYYY format) that the reorder point was last calculated.
Prior value: Last value recorded for the reorder point.
Reorder quantity
Quantity to order (Economic Order Quantity, in units of issue) when you reorder this part for this location. Only applies to EOQ replenishment method.
If the Perform EOQ calculation field specifies YES, the reorder quantity is calculated when the standard EOQ calculation runs. (Refer to the System Mgmt -> End of Period screen or the Data -> Enterprise Purchasing -> Replenishment -> Calculate Replenishment Parameters screen.)
Tip: If the General tab on the Data -> Parts Items -> Setup -> Options screen specifies to manage parts either BY LOCATION or ENTERPRISE, inventory and order information at this location are used to compute the reorder quantity, which displays in this field. You can change the value. To prevent the value from being recalculated and overriding the one you set, specify NO in the Perform EOQ calculation field.
Calculated: If this field has a check, the reorder quantity has been calculated.
last at: The date (in MMDDYYYY format) that the reorder quantity was last calculated.
Prior value: Last value recorded for the reorder quantity.
Safety stock level
Level (in units of issue) below which inventory should never fall for this part at this location, except to cover delivery delays from vendors. Only applies to EOQ replenishment method.
If the Perform EOQ or MIN-MAX calculation field specifies YES, the safety stock level is calculated when the standard EOQ calculation runs. (Refer to the System Mgmt -> End of Period screen or the Data -> Enterprise Purchasing -> Replenishment -> Calculate Replenishment Parameters screen.)
Tip: If the General tab on the Data -> Parts Items -> Setup -> Options screen specifies to manage parts either BY LOCATION or ENTERPRISE, inventory and order information at this location are used to compute the safety stock level, which displays in this field. You can change the value. To prevent the value from being recalculated and overriding the one you set, specify NO in the Perform EOQ or MIN-MAX calculation field.
The value in the ABC code field is used to calculate the level for this location. If the number of stockouts permitted per year exceeds 50% of the number of orders of a part expected in a year (number of orders = average yearly usage divided by reorder quantity), it sets the safety stock level to zero. The maximum number of stockouts per year is specified on the EOQ tab of the Data -> Parts Items -> Setup -> Options screen.
Calculated: If this field has a check, the safety stock level has been calculated.
last at: Date (in MMDDYYYY format) of the last calculation. This field is display only.
Prior value: Last calculated value. This field is display only.
Note: MIN-MAX applies only if you manage inventory BY ENTERPRISE. If you manage BY LOCATION, you must use the EOQ fields.
Refer to the System Mgmt -> End of Period screen or the Data -> Enterprise Purchasing -> Replenishment -> Calculate Replenishment Parameters screen.
Minimum available quantity
Minimum level of inventory to have on hand at all times to protect against fluctuations in demand and/or supply. This value has no automatic calculation capability. Only applies to the MIN-MAX replenishment method. Must be greater than or equal to zero if the replenishment method is MIN-MAX.
Calculated: If this field has a check, the MIN-MAX value has been calculated.
last at: Date (in MMDDYYYY format) of the last calculation. Display only.
Prior value: Last calculated value. This field is display only.
Maximum available quantity
Maximum level of inventory to have on hand at all times to protect against fluctuations in demand and/or supply. This value has no automatic calculation capability. Only applies to MIN-MAX replenishment method. Must be greater than zero if the replenishment method is MIN-MAX.
Tip: When the inventory level reaches or drops below the minimum available quantity, a message suggests ordering enough quantity to reach the maximum available quantity.
Calculated: If this field has a check, the maximum available quantity has been calculated.
last at: Date (in MMDDYYYY format) of the last calculation. This field is display only.
Prior value: Last calculated value. This field is display only.
Inventory management classification for this part at this location. This value applies only to the EOQ replenishment method. Any letter from A to Z is valid. Optional.
Tip: If you want to use the Economic order quantity calculations option on the System Mgmt -> End of Period screen to calculate economic order quantities for all parts, use the ABC code classification approach, because the maximum number of stockouts permitted for EOQ calculation is defined in terms of the part's ABC code. The maximum number of stockouts a year is specified on the EOQ tab of the Data -> Parts Items -> Setup -> Options screen. For parts with no ABC code or a code other than A, B, or C, the EOQ routine uses the maximum number of stockouts for OTHER when it calculates EOQ for that part.
Calculated: If this field has a check, the existing ABC code was updated to the current code. ABC codes for a part are calculated automatically if there is a check in the Automatically calculate ABC code field on the Replenishment tab of the Data -> Parts Items -> Location Information screen.
last at: Date (in MMDDYYYY format) of the last calculation. This field is display only.
Prior value: Last calculated value. This field is display only.
Apply replenishment only during season
Use this to enable parts that need to only be stocked seasonally. If this is set, replenishment will be enabled during the time frame that you set. Replenishment will run from the beginning of the seasons start month to the end of the season end month.
Season start month
If Apply replenishment only during season is checked, set the start month for the season.
Season end month
If Apply replenishment only during season is checked, set the end month for the season.
