Delays |
Delays are tracked against work orders to record the reason why a particular work order is not being actively worked. The collected data can be used to justify additional resources.
The Delays screen enables you to start and stop delays on work orders; view existing delays; and stop delays that were entered on another screen. You can start and stop delays for part rebuild, linear asset, and equipment work orders. You cannot insert a delay against a work order that already has a pending delay, however. Work delays against rebuild work orders are allowed if the delay does not transfer shop or user responsibility.
You can use the Delay tab on the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen to manage your delays, or any combination of that tab and this screen. Delays created on this screen may be viewed on that tab.
To start a new delay, click the New and enter data as you would on the Delay tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Work Order Center screen.
To stop an existing delay, filter on the work order ID and then select the applicable delay from the grid. Click Edit to update the delay, select the End checkbox, and then click Save. The delay stops.
To reverse a delay entered in error, click Delete. The hours are automatically reversed from the work order and the equipment cost history. Only closed work delays may be deleted. You are encouraged to verify the screen rights for user groups who use this screen. You may want to restrict access to the Delete button for some users.
While a work order is in work delay, you cannot use the Data -> Shop Activity -> Employee Labor Capture screen to post labor charges to it. To see a list of all screens from which you can post charges to work orders, go to Posting charges to work orders. Charges are posted the same way from each screen.
Tip: To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can search on work order information (location, ID, and number), delay begin/end date and time, and work delay ID. The filter also includes an Only show open delays option. The default is to display all delays (in progress, stopped, and closed). To display only delays in progress, double-click the box to replace the grayed-out check with a solid check. To display only closed or stopped delays, clear the box.
The Delays screen supports location-level access control, so you must belong to a user group with the applicable authorizations to make changes or updates.
